Welcome Back to Kovolution
Today, I’ve prepared a post about the absolute hottest spot near Busan Station that takes care of both the beginning and the end of any Busan trip: the incredibly famous #BonjeonDwaejiGukbap.
It’s located just a 1-minute dash from the train tracks, and honestly, it’s one of those places where a trip to Busan feels incomplete if you don’t stop by. I fell in love all over again with the clean and deep flavor of the broth. Let’s get right into the review!
π Location & Atmosphere
- Address: 3-8 Jungang-daero 214beon-gil, Dong-gu, Busan
- Right from the entrance, you can feel the aura of a "64-year tradition."
- Whether it's a weekday or the weekend, there is always a line, so the front of the restaurant is constantly buzzing with people.
- Once you step inside, the walls are tightly packed with signatures from famous celebrities. Hahaha. It feels like every famous person in the country has eaten here at least once!
π₯ Fresh Side Dishes & 'Busan Style' Service
The moment you sit down, the basic side dishes are served: seasoned chives (jeongguji), fresh-made kimchi (geotjeori), and crunchy onions and peppers!
And here is a unique highlight: the way they snip the meat on the plate with scissors right in front of you is so impressive! Hahaha. That rough yet brisk handiwork is exactly what makes you realize, "Ah, I’m truly in Busan!" It’s the authentic Busan style.
π² Half Meat, Half Broth! The Odorless "Meat Bomb"
Finally, the main character: Dwaeji Gukbap (11,000 KRW)!
- The Meat: I was most surprised by the sheer amount of meat. Hahaha. When you stir the pot with your spoon, it’s packed with pork from the bottom up. It’s a perfect mix of lean meat and fat, making it incredibly soft and chewy.
- The Broth: Some people worry about a specific "porky smell" when it comes to pork soup, but there is absolutely zero odor or gamey smell here. The broth is very clear and clean, making it a perfect entry point even for beginners.
- Kovolution's Tip: It’s absolute perfection when you mix in plenty of the red seasoning (dadegi) and chives!
π Final Verdict
I think this one photo of my empty bowl explains everything. Hahaha. I scraped it so clean that there wasn't a single drop of broth left at the bottom of the pot!
"The Tier-1 Gukbap restaurant I can recommend without hesitation near Busan Station!"
With its deep, odorless broth, overwhelming meat portions, and that uniquely warm Busan atmosphere, I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Busan or looking for a hearty meal before catching their train.
I’m definitely coming back every single time! Intention to revisit: 10,000%!!!
